Prime Video’s upcoming action thriller with a Justice League star gets a disappointing update
Amazon MGM Studios is developing The Pirate, an action thriller based on a spec script by Ms. Marvel writer Will Dunn. Conceived as “The Raid set on a pirate ship”—referencing the 2011 Gareth Evans action film—the project features Aquaman star Jason Momoa in a likely lead role and Deadpool 2 director David Leitch directing. Leitch and his wife Kelly McCormick are producing through their 87North production banner, known for films including Nobody, The Fall Guy, and Violent Night. First announced last August, the project has remained quiet since, with little public updates on production status or timeline.
