Ghost Recon: Wildlands Might Finally Be Getting A Current-Gen Upgrade This Week
Ghost Recon: Wildlands, Ubisoft’s 2017 third-person tactical shooter, is receiving a free current-generation console upgrade set to launch on August 6. The upgrade was originally scheduled to be announced at the Ghost Recon franchise’s 25th anniversary showcase on that date, but details were accidentally leaked early via a PlayStation Store listing that has since been removed.
The upgrade brings significant technical improvements to the PS5 version, including native 4K resolution and 60fps gameplay, 3D audio support, faster loading times leveraging the PlayStation 5’s SSD, and enhanced DualSense controller integration with advanced haptic feedback. Similar graphical and gameplay enhancements are expected to roll out to Xbox Series X|S and PC versions.
Alongside the technical improvements, the update introduces a new story pack called “Last Rites” and includes various quality-of-life updates. According to reports, all existing players will have access to try the upgraded version, with a promotional trial period extending until August 10.
This upgrade represents Ubisoft’s effort to extend the lifespan of a game that has maintained an active player base for nearly a decade, bringing it in line with current-generation console capabilities and modern performance standards.
