Monster Hunter Wilds finally has a demo, with big limitations
Capcom has released a free Prologue Demo for Monster Hunter Wilds, the 2025 action RPG that launched in February. The demo is now available to players, offering a substantial taste of the game’s opening hours.
The Prologue Demo grants access to the game’s initial campaign missions, allowing players to create their Hunter character and Palico companion before experiencing content through “Chapter 1-3: To the Forest”—the fifth mission in the campaign. This portion of the game provides several hours of gameplay, giving prospective players a meaningful opportunity to evaluate whether Monster Hunter Wilds suits their interests.
A key feature of the demo is that player progress carries over to the full game upon purchase, eliminating the need to replay the opening content for those who decide to buy after trying the demo. The demo is confirmed available on PlayStation 5.
This release comes approximately 18 months after the game’s initial launch, suggesting Capcom is using the free demo as a strategy to drive engagement and sales among players who may not have committed to the full purchase.
