Former Pokémon Exec Accused of Hiding Video Cameras in Office Bathroom to Record Women and Girls
Ben Tsai, 45, a former director of engineering at The Pokémon Company International’s Bellevue, Washington headquarters, faces criminal charges and has prompted a class-action lawsuit against the company following allegations of systematic surveillance.
Tsai was initially charged with first-degree voyeurism in January 2026 after a hidden camera was discovered in a Starbucks bathroom. Subsequent investigation revealed that he had placed surveillance cameras in multiple locations, including a Safeway store, his own home, and a bathroom at The Pokémon Company’s office. According to prosecutors, Tsai filmed women and children at various stages of undress while using facilities, and was charged with possessing and distributing child sexual abuse material—with authorities allegedly discovering hundreds of videos depicting adult and child nudity.
An anonymous former employee has now filed a class-action lawsuit against The Pokémon Company International, claiming the company failed to protect workers from the misconduct despite having a perpetrator operating within its own facilities. Tsai was arrested in July 2026. The Pokémon Company International has not publicly responded to requests for comment regarding either the criminal allegations or the ongoing litigation.
