Publisher Secret Mode opens development studio to support internal projects
Secret Mode, the publisher behind indie titles Escape the Backrooms and Chained Together, announced the opening of a new development studio in Sheffield to bolster its internal capabilities. The studio will provide ongoing support for Secret Mode’s existing portfolio of games, including post-launch updates and downloadable content, while also managing platform ports and codebase maintenance across the publisher’s catalog.
In addition to supporting its own titles, the studio will offer development assistance to external partners as needed. The team will be led by Dan Secker, Secret Mode’s VP of technology and operations, alongside Jacob Habgood as technical development director. Both executives bring previous experience from their work at game development firm Sumo, with Habgood having previously led development on the football management simulation NUTMEG!.
The move reflects Secret Mode’s growing ambitions as a publisher, particularly given its upcoming Star Wars: Galactic Racer title. By establishing an in-house development capability, Secret Mode aims to streamline support for its games, facilitate multiplatform releases, and ensure better long-term maintenance of its titles.
