Another GTA 6 Delay Would Not Be Surprising, Former Rockstar Dev Says
A former Rockstar Games animator believes Grand Theft Auto 6 could face another delay beyond its current November 19 release date. Mike York, who worked as an animator at Rockstar Games before departing in 2017, told Indy100 that he “would not be shocked at all” if the company postpones the highly anticipated title again.
Based on his experience at the studio, York suggested that Rockstar has the freedom and resources to delay the game if needed. “They could delay it again,” he stated, noting that the company can “do whatever they want” with GTA 6. According to York, if Rockstar’s development team determines they need additional time to polish the game, they will take it regardless of public expectations.
York speculated that a delay of approximately six months could be possible, depending on Rockstar’s internal assessment of the project’s readiness. He expressed confidence that such a postponement would not harm the publisher’s reputation, suggesting player goodwill is strong enough to withstand another delay.
The comments reflect broader industry patterns where major AAA titles frequently experience delays as developers work to meet quality standards. Rockstar Games has long been known for its meticulous approach to game development, prioritizing polish and completion over arbitrary release windows.
