Sonic Team Teases More 35th Anniversary Surprises
Sonic Team is building anticipation for Sonic the Hedgehog’s 35th-anniversary celebration with promises of additional surprises yet to come. Despite the milestone year, no major new game announcements have materialized so far, but Takashi Iizuka, the head of Sonic Team, has indicated that the company has more content planned as the anniversary year progresses.
In an interview with Pocket Tactics, Iizuka revealed that further announcements are in the works, suggesting that Sega’s plans for the franchise’s jubilee extend beyond what has already been shared. The anniversary celebrations have already begun, though they have primarily focused on updates to existing titles rather than new releases.
As part of the ongoing festivities, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds has received multiple DLC updates. Additionally, Iizuka has promoted Sonic Pico Park as part of the anniversary offerings, highlighting one of the titles the company is bringing to fans during this celebratory period.
With Iizuka’s confirmation of forthcoming announcements, the Sonic fanbase has reason to remain attentive throughout the 35th-anniversary year. The head of Sonic Team’s willingness to tease additional content suggests that larger reveals may still be coming, though specific details remain scarce.
