The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt had a feature cut from the game’s final release: a menu that would have allowed players to watch story recaps at any time. In the base game, Dandelion narrates automatic recaps when players load saves or fast travel during the main story. CD Projekt Red had apparently developed this recap menu but removed it from release due to a “showstopping bug” discovered four years ago.
Now, modders have successfully restored this cut feature, giving players the ability to access story recaps on demand whenever they want—similar to how the character biography system works. This restoration allows players to easily review plot points and character relationships without needing to load old saves. The feature’s return is particularly timely ahead of the upcoming “Songs of the Past” DLC, which CD Projekt Red announced as the game’s first major story expansion. Players looking to refresh their memory before the new content drops now have a convenient way to catch up on Geralt’s adventures and the complex web of relationships he’s built throughout the game.
