The live-action The Legend of Zelda film has reportedly found its villain, with Australian actor Uli Latukefu cast as Ganondorf. The casting comes from a report by veteran Hollywood journalist Kyle Buchanan of The New York Times, though neither Sony Pictures nor Nintendo have officially confirmed the news. Deadline corroborated the report and revealed that Latukefu has signed a multi-picture deal, suggesting the studios may be planning multiple films in the Zelda franchise.

Latukefu is best known for his role in the TV series Young Rock and made his feature film debut in Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant. The Ganondorf casting joins previously confirmed roles: Bo Bragason as Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link.

Filming for the movie wrapped earlier in 2026, with the live-action adaptation scheduled to release on April 30, 2027. Sony and Nintendo have maintained strict confidentiality around the project, limiting public information about the film. The multi-picture deal suggests confidence in the project’s potential, particularly following the commercial success of recent Super Mario films at the box office.
