2025’s Best Soulslike You Missed Is Officially a Sleeper Hit on Xbox Game Pass
2025 proved to be an exceptional year for video games, marked by strong releases across multiple tiers of production. Major AAA franchises delivered new entries including Kirby Air Ride’s long-awaited sequel, Battlefield 6, and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, while the year’s indie landscape flourished with notable titles like Blue Prince, And Roger…, Ball x Pit, Despelote, Is This Seat Taken?, and Wheel World.
A defining trend of 2025 was the emergence of AA games—moderately-scoped projects that offered substantial, high-quality experiences rivaling larger productions. Among these mid-tier releases, a soulslike game has recently become an official sleeper hit on Xbox Game Pass, gaining significant traction despite initially flying under the radar amid the year’s crowded release calendar.
This pattern reflects the gaming industry’s creative diversity, with innovation emerging from studios of all sizes rather than exclusively from major publishers with blockbuster budgets. The success of lesser-known titles on subscription platforms like Xbox Game Pass underscores the value these services provide in giving games visibility and audience reach beyond traditional marketing channels. The combination of strong AAA releases, innovative indie projects, and breakout AA titles positioned 2025 as a notably well-rounded year for gaming.
