AI Tools Aren’t Going To Replace Anyone, Says GTA 6 Publisher Boss

During Take-Two Interactive’s Q1 FY27 earnings call, CEO Strauss Zelnick addressed growing industry concerns about artificial intelligence in game development, stating that AI tools “are not going to replace anyone” at the company. Zelnick emphasized that while Take-Two will continue to utilize AI, the technology should enhance creative work rather than eliminate jobs.

The statement comes amid widespread anxiety across the gaming industry, where some studios have mandated AI tool training for employees while others pursue cost-cutting measures through increased AI implementation. Zelnick framed Take-Two’s approach around creativity as a core pillar, highlighting the company’s 13,000 global employees who engage in creative work daily.

According to Zelnick, Take-Two has historically been an early adopter of emerging technologies, including AI and machine learning, well before these tools became mainstream industry buzzwords. The CEO’s remarks underscore the company’s philosophy that technology should augment rather than supplant human creativity.

The statement provides a counterpoint to industry fears about widespread job displacement from AI adoption, positioning Take-Two as a company committed to preserving creative roles while leveraging technological advancement.
