Former Icelandic minister joins Fenris Creations to lead new AI partnerships

Fenris Creations has appointed Áslaug Arna Sigurbjörnsdóttir, a former Icelandic government minister, as senior director for AI partnerships. In this new role, Sigurbjörnsdóttir will lead a research initiative focused on autonomous AI research within Eve Frontier, collaborating with AI laboratories, universities, policymakers, and strategic partners to develop and advance the company’s AI capabilities.

Sigurbjörnsdóttir brings substantial government and innovation expertise to the position. She was elected to Iceland’s parliament in 2016 and became the country’s youngest Minister of Justice in 2019. In 2021, she was appointed Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation—a position she held until December 2024. This ministerial background, particularly her focus on science and innovation policy, positions her well to lead AI research initiatives. She departed her parliamentary role in June 2025 after a leave of absence.

The appointment reflects a growing trend of gaming companies recruiting specialized expertise from government and policy sectors to guide strategic AI integration. Sigurbjörnsdóttir has stated her intention to “contribute to the changes AI is bringing” through her work with Fenris Creations, positioning this initiative as forward-thinking research into autonomous systems within the Eve Frontier environment.
