Fortnite is Keeping Sprites for Next Season, a Gaming-Themed Crossover Expected to Feature Sonic, Persona and Tetris
Epic Games has officially confirmed that Fortnite’s collectible Sprites mechanic will continue into Chapter 7 Season 4, extending what has become one of the game’s most popular features. Introduced at the beginning of the current season, Sprites—cute creatures that players collect, trade, and level up to gain special perks—have driven a notable surge in Fortnite’s player count and fostered an engaged community of dedicated collectors.
The confirmation brings relief to players who invested time building their collections. Epic Games has announced that players will retain their entire Sprite collection when transitioning to Season 4, with the next iteration introducing a “whole new generation” of creatures to discover. The expanded roster will feature new powers and variants alongside quality-of-life improvements based on player feedback.
Beyond the expanded collection, Epic Games is introducing the Sprite Garden, an island getaway where players can interact with their creatures. The developer has also promised new mechanics for finding and collecting Sprites, suggesting fresh ways to engage with the feature both in and out of regular gameplay.
Season 4’s arrival will coincide with a gaming-themed crossover season featuring prominent franchises. Early teasing suggests that Sonic the Hedgehog, Persona, and Tetris are expected to feature prominently in the season’s crossover content, potentially broadening appeal across gaming communities. The decision to retain and expand Sprites demonstrates Epic Games’ commitment to long-term live-service development, building on mechanics that resonate with players while introducing fresh content to maintain engagement.
