GTA V surpasses 230 million sales months before GTA VI touches down
Grand Theft Auto V has surpassed 230 million sales across three console generations, cementing its status as the best-selling game of the past decade by both unit and dollar sales. The milestone arrives months before the November 2026 launch of Grand Theft Auto VI.
Take-Two Interactive reported strong first-quarter results for fiscal 2027, delivering net bookings of $1.39 billion—slightly above guidance despite a 3 percent year-over-year decrease. The performance was driven by exceptional strength in the NBA 2K franchise and sustained momentum in the Grand Theft Auto series, with recurrent consumer spending contributing significantly to growth. The publisher’s Zynga mobile portfolio also provided strong contributions.
Looking ahead, Take-Two increased its full-year net bookings projection to $8.2 billion for fiscal 2027, up from its previous $8 billion estimate, representing anticipated 20 percent growth. The company forecasts Rockstar Games will account for 37 percent of revenue, Zynga 34 percent, and the 2K label 29 percent. Take-Two executives have characterized GTA VI’s arrival as a potentially transformative moment for the company’s financial performance.
The quarter also included a $43.4 million revenue impairment related to the cancellation of an unannounced third-party developer title from its pipeline, contributing to a significant year-over-year increase in net loss.
