Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls suffers from widespread PC issues at launch

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls launched on August 6, 2026, to a disappointing technical reception on PC despite praise for the game’s core mechanics and art style. The highly-anticipated 4v4 tag fighting game from Arc System Works (developers of Guilty Gear and BlazBlue) currently sits at a “Mixed” rating on Steam, with reports ranging from 44-56% of reviews being positive—meaning the majority of feedback is negative.

PC players are reporting a wide range of technical issues that are preventing or severely hindering play, including stuttering, netcode problems, anti-cheat complications, forced PlayStation account requirements, and in some cases, the game failing to launch entirely. These problems persist even for players with hardware exceeding the minimum recommended specifications. Meanwhile, PS5 players report a smooth experience with the game running well on the console.

The performance issues have proven so widespread that Arc System Works issued a statement acknowledging the reports and confirmed they are investigating. A day-one patch was promised to improve stability, but player feedback suggests these early fixes have been insufficient.

The PC launch has been particularly brutal for Linux users, who are experiencing compounded difficulties. Some PS5 players have reportedly begun disabling crossplay to avoid being matched with PC players experiencing technical issues. With over 2,000 reviews accumulated within days and concurrent player counts around 10,000 on SteamDB—a reasonable figure for a $60 release—the mixed reception threatens to damage what was otherwise one of the year’s most anticipated fighting games.
