Latest PS5 Pro Firmware Beta Automatically Enables PSSR 2.0 Override
Sony has released a new PS5 Pro firmware beta that automatically enables PSSR 2.0 by default. The update changes the “enhance PSSR image quality” setting from opt-in to opt-out, meaning PS5 Pro users will now have access to the upgraded upscaling technology without manual configuration.
PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) 2.0 represents a significant improvement in image quality for supported games. Given its effectiveness, Sony’s decision to make this feature automatically enabled makes practical sense, as most users would benefit from the upgrade without needing to navigate the video settings menu.
The beta firmware also introduces new restrictions for the “turn off Bluetooth” setting, limiting its use to specific scenarios such as LAN parties or esports venues where extremely high wireless traffic could interfere with connections.
This update demonstrates Sony’s confidence in PSSR 2.0’s capabilities and signals a shift toward making advanced graphical features more accessible to PS5 Pro users by default. Rather than requiring players to discover and manually enable the enhancement, the automatic enablement ensures better visual quality across supported games while preserving the option for users to disable it if preferred.
