The Witcher season 5 delayed on Netflix, new report says
Netflix has delayed the fifth and final season of The Witcher from its previously expected 2026 release window to 2027, according to reporting from What’s On Netflix. The postponement represents a notable departure from the show’s established release pattern, which had consistently delivered new seasons every two years throughout its first four installments.
Production on the final season concluded in September 2025, arriving shortly before season four premiered on Netflix in October 2025. Seasons four and five were produced and filmed consecutively, a back-to-back production approach that has become increasingly common for Netflix’s tentpole releases. Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich had previously discussed plans for the final season’s production timeline.
The delay is particularly significant given that filming has already wrapped and all production work is complete. Netflix’s decision to push the release date to 2027 breaks from the consistent biennial scheduling pattern fans have come to expect. The final season will conclude the journey of protagonist Geralt of Rivia and the world of The Continent that has captivated viewers since the series’ 2019 debut.
