Forget Quake, Worms: The Director’s Cut just got a free expansion for the series’ 30th anniversary

Worms: The Director’s Cut has received a free expansion pack (version 1.5) to celebrate the series’ 30th anniversary. Developed over several years by creator Andy Davidson in collaboration with fan creators and legendary indie developer Jeff Minter of Llamasoft, the expansion was officially approved by publisher Team 17.

The expansion introduces over 40 custom levels, 50 new voice sample packs for Worms characters, new teams, and additional terrain types. One level features a Llamasoft-themed tribute to Minter’s iconic contributions to indie gaming.

The Director’s Cut is the Amiga-exclusive sequel to the original Worms strategy-party hybrid. Davidson expressed hope that the expansion would give the classic game “a new lease on life.” The project demonstrates a community-driven approach to game preservation, combining official publisher support with grassroots fan involvement and contributions from respected industry veterans.
