You can now stream PS Plus games to Steam Deck without owning a PS5 - and without buying a PS Portal
Asobi: Remote Play, a new app now in public playtest, enables PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers to stream games directly to Steam Deck and other Linux-based devices without requiring a PlayStation 5 console or PS Portal hardware.
The application, available for Steam Deck, Steam Machine, and other SteamOS and Linux systems, represents a significant expansion of cloud-streaming capabilities for PlayStation’s subscription service. While local streaming from a player’s own PS4 or PS5 console over a home network has been supported for some time through similar applications, this new feature specifically adds PlayStation Plus Premium cloud streaming functionality. This allows subscribers to access games directly from PlayStation’s cloud game catalogue without needing to own either console.
The development democratizes access to PlayStation games on portable and Linux gaming platforms, removing hardware ownership barriers for cloud-streaming users. By bringing PlayStation Plus cloud functionality to alternative platforms, Sony is expanding its gaming ecosystem beyond traditional PlayStation hardware into the broader PC gaming space, including portable devices like Steam Deck.
