Your Steam Deck Can Now Moonlight as a PS Portal, with PS Plus Cloud Streaming
A new application called Asobi enables Steam Deck and other Linux-based portable devices to access PlayStation 5 Remote Play functionality, currently in testing on Steam. The app allows users who already own a Steam Deck to stream and play their PS5 games on the handheld device, providing similar functionality to Sony’s dedicated PS Portal device without the additional hardware cost.
This positions the Steam Deck as a more versatile option for players who own both a Steam Deck and a PlayStation 5, eliminating the need to purchase a separate dedicated device. The development addresses a practical gap in the market, as the PS Portal represents a significant additional investment for users who already own complementary gaming hardware.
By leveraging the Steam Deck’s Linux-based architecture, Asobi extends the handheld’s capabilities beyond its primary PC gaming function, increasing its appeal as a multipurpose gaming device. Currently in testing phases, the application suggests broader availability may follow successful development.
