Don’t Expect To Hear About GTA 6’s Online Mode Soon

Rockstar Games is maintaining silence on Grand Theft Auto 6’s online multiplayer component, according to reporting from Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier. While Take-Two Interactive has been openly discussing GTA 6’s single-player campaign—set to launch in November without microtransactions or recurring revenue—the publisher has disclosed nothing about the upcoming GTA Online experience and has no plans to do so in the near future.

Schreier noted that Take-Two is currently focused on communicating details about GTA 6’s single-player portion, which will operate as a traditional narrative-driven game without the monetization mechanisms typical of live-service titles. In contrast, the company has completely avoided any discussion of GTA Online’s design, features, or monetization model.

This strategic withholding of information is particularly striking given GTA Online’s status as one of the most commercially successful multiplayer games ever created. The online component for GTA 5 has generated substantial recurring revenue through in-game purchases and seasonal content since its 2013 launch. The delay in revealing GTA 6’s online strategy suggests Take-Two may still be determining the direction for the new iteration or is waiting for a more opportune moment to announce details.
