GTA 6 Boss Says More People Are Pre-Ordering the $100 Version of the Game

Grand Theft Auto 6 has exceeded pre-order expectations, with the $100 Ultimate Edition significantly outpacing the $79.99 standard edition, according to Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick.

In a CNBC interview, Zelnick revealed that pre-order figures for Rockstar’s upcoming game are performing “much better than expected,” showing strong consumer demand ahead of the November release. When asked how pre-orders break down between the two editions, Zelnick stated that sales are “skewing more to the premium edition.”

Zelnick attributed this trend partially to the types of consumers currently pre-ordering. “That might be a reflection of the fact that the most avid consumers are the ones who are pre-ordering now,” he explained. This suggests that dedicated franchise fans are more likely to opt for the higher-priced Ultimate Edition with its additional content and features, rather than the more budget-conscious standard edition.

The strong performance of the premium tier demonstrates robust consumer confidence in the franchise, marking the first mainline Grand Theft Auto entry in 13 years. The higher pre-order performance for the Ultimate Edition could translate to significantly increased revenue for Take-Two, though Zelnick cautioned that this early-adopter distribution may not necessarily reflect final sales patterns once the game launches and reaches a broader mainstream audience.
