HandyGames rebrands as THQ Nordic Mobile
HandyGames, a German-based mobile publisher, has rebranded as THQ Nordic Mobile as part of a strategic shift to focus on bringing established console and PC titles to mobile platforms. The rebrand consolidates the company’s publishing operations under the wider THQ Nordic umbrella, enabling the publisher to expand its portfolio of premium game adaptations.
The company has a proven track record in mobile adaptations, previously publishing notable titles including mobile versions of Wreckfest, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated, and Titan Quest. These successes demonstrate the market demand for high-quality adaptations of established franchises on mobile devices.
The structural reorganization separates publishing and development operations. While the publisher rebrands to THQ Nordic Mobile, the company’s internal development studio—also based in Giebelstadt, Germany—will continue operating under the HandyGames name. This studio will focus on creating original titles while supporting the newly rebranded publisher’s mobile adaptation projects.
This move reflects broader industry trends toward cross-platform publishing strategies, with established publishers increasingly seeking to monetize their existing IP across multiple platforms, particularly mobile, which represents a significant portion of the global gaming market.
