No Man’s Sky 10th Anniversary Trailer

No Man’s Sky is celebrating its 10th anniversary on August 9, 2026. The space exploration game launched a decade ago on PlayStation 4 and PC to overwhelmingly negative reviews, with players criticizing broken promises and lack of meaningful content. The game quickly earned an “overwhelmingly negative” rating on Steam, signaling a troubled launch.

However, Hello Games persevered and committed to developing the game, releasing over 40 major free updates across the decade. This sustained support transformed No Man’s Sky into a beloved title, with player sentiment dramatically improving. The game is now considered superb by its community and has expanded beyond its original platforms to include Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.

To commemorate the milestone, Hello Games founder and managing director Sean Murray released an open letter thanking players for their support. Murray shared striking statistics about the game’s scope: tens of millions of travelers have explored the galaxies, yet less than 1% of the game’s procedurally-generated planets have been discovered, highlighting the vast scale of the universe.

The anniversary announcement hints at continued development, with Hello Games working on future No Man’s Sky content. The studio is also developing a separate project titled Light No Fire, which has been in development for approximately two and a half years. A decade after launch, the No Man’s Sky community remains active and engaged, celebrating both the game’s redemption arc and the promise of future updates.
