Payday has come to Fortnite, because today’s cool gamers are ‘discovering legendary IPs in entirely new ways’
Payday is getting a new roguelike shooter experience in Fortnite as part of the franchise’s ongoing efforts to develop engaging new content. The collaboration, announced today, is called “Heist Escape Roguelike: Payday Experience” and is available exclusively within Fortnite through UEFN (Unreal Engine for Fortnite).
The experience reimagines elements from Payday as a progressive roguelike shooter, featuring three distinct heists: the Jewelry Store, the Bank, and the Harbor. Each heist contains multiple unique rooms designed to provide endless replayability and varied gameplay experiences.
The announcement reflects a notable trend in how established gaming franchises reach modern audiences. Developers increasingly recognize that “today’s audiences are discovering legendary IPs in entirely new ways,” moving beyond traditional standalone game releases to platform-integrated experiences and alternative game modes. This approach allows franchises to engage new players while providing fresh content to existing audiences.
The exclusive Fortnite integration gives the Payday experience access to Fortnite’s massive cross-platform player base, available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and mobile platforms.
