Mobile’s lead narrows at Take-Two, but still represents over half its earnings
Take-Two Interactive reported net bookings of $1.39 billion for its fiscal first quarter ending June 30, representing a 3% year-over-year decline. Despite the modest revenue decrease, the publisher exceeded guidance expectations, with CEO Strauss Zelnick crediting strong performance from NBA 2K and the Grand Theft Auto series.
Mobile gaming remains Take-Two’s largest platform segment but saw its proportional share of revenue contract as console gaming grew. Mobile contributed $739.5 million, representing 53% of total net bookings—a noteworthy shift from the previous year as traditional console platforms gained relative ground.
The earnings results highlight evolving dynamics within Take-Two’s portfolio as console franchises like Grand Theft Auto continue delivering robust results. The company’s reliance on mobile for over half its revenue underscores the platform’s ongoing strategic importance, even as its dominance gradually narrows in the publisher’s overall business mix.
