Unity credits AI advertising platform for driving its ‘best quarter ever’
Unity Technologies reported exceptional financial results for Q2 2026, generating $546 million in total revenue—a 24 percent increase from $440 million in the same quarter of 2025. CEO Matthew Bromberg characterized the period as the company’s “best quarter ever,” marking a significant milestone after years of operational challenges.
More notably, Unity substantially reduced its financial losses, posting a net loss of $23 million for the quarter compared to a $108 million loss in Q2 2025—a 73 percent improvement year-over-year. This turnaround demonstrates the effectiveness of the company’s strategic restructuring efforts following sustained industry headwinds.
The company’s recovery comes after widespread backlash to its controversial 2023 proposed “Runtime Fee” initiative, which had significantly damaged developer relations and corporate reputation. Years of reorganization and strategic repositioning have been required to restore confidence.
Unity attributed the strong revenue growth primarily to its AI-powered advertising platform, which played a key role in driving the quarter’s expansion. The results underscore the increasing importance of advertising technology and artificial intelligence solutions within gaming industry monetization strategies. The financial performance signals a potential inflection point, suggesting that Unity’s pivot toward advertising and monetization solutions is yielding tangible returns and potentially rebuilding investor confidence after a challenging period.
