Persona 4 Revival producer says remakes of Persona 1 and 2 are ‘something we should definitely do’
Atlus has expressed interest in remaking the original Persona games from the PlayStation One era, with Persona producer Kazuhisa Wada suggesting such projects are something the company “should definitely do.” While Wada couldn’t confirm official plans, he emphasized that remaking Persona 1, Persona 2: Innocent Sin, and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment represents work the studio feels compelled to pursue.
The statement comes amid a broader revival of the Persona franchise at Atlus. The studio has recently released a remake of Persona 3, is developing remakes of Persona 4, and has Persona 6 in development. These upcoming titles are expanding the series’ platform reach, with Persona 4 and Persona 6 announced for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Game Pass—marking significant releases for the franchise outside its traditional PlayStation home.
The expressed interest in early Persona remakes suggests Atlus recognizes the importance of revisiting these foundational titles that shaped the franchise’s legacy. For long-time fans who have awaited official attention to the earlier games, Wada’s comments indicate the company views such projects as valuable, even if formal announcements remain pending. The timing aligns with the series’ current momentum as Atlus introduces the franchise to new audiences through modern platforms and remakes.
