Battlefield 6 Trailer Shows Off New Version Of Wake Island, And It Looks Incredible
EA and Battlefield Studios have released a new trailer showcasing Wake Island, a returning fan-favorite map coming to Battlefield 6 on August 18. The announcement is accompanied by a Top Gun-themed crossover event launching alongside the map.
Wake Island stands as one of the most celebrated maps in Battlefield franchise history, having first appeared in Battlefield 1942, the series’ original title. The map draws inspiration from the real-life Wake Atoll located in the Pacific Ocean, which was the site of a significant World War II battle.
For Battlefield 6, the map has been completely rebuilt from the ground up according to EA, featuring redesigned combat encounters across multiple engagement styles and scales. The new version places stronger emphasis on naval warfare while also implementing substantial updates to land-based and air-based combat mechanics. Based on the newly released gameplay footage featured in the trailer, the latest iteration of Wake Island appears visually impressive and meaningfully evolved from its previous incarnations.
