2021 Game of the Year Could Be Coming to Nintendo Switch 2
According to a report citing a document from Hong Kong video distributor Prowell Asia, It Takes Two is reportedly headed to the Nintendo Switch 2. The acclaimed co-op game, which won Game of the Year at The Game Awards in 2021, would benefit from visual upgrades, higher resolution, and improved performance on the new hardware.
It Takes Two originally launched in March 2021 for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms. The game gained significant popularity for its innovative co-op gameplay and emotional narrative, where two players control Cody and Mary, a married couple cursed by their child into doll bodies who must relearn how to love each other. The title’s success led to a Nintendo Switch port in 2022, expanding its audience considerably.
The game has proven to be a commercial success, selling over 20 million copies across all platforms by the end of 2024. A Nintendo Switch 2 release would mark another platform expansion for the title, introducing the game to the new console’s install base while leveraging improved hardware capabilities.
