Bethesda Acknowledges Demand for Oblivion Remastered Patch, Calls for Calm

Bethesda has acknowledged the ongoing technical issues plaguing The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered and confirmed that a patch is in development. More than a year after its original release, the remastered edition continues to suffer from significant performance problems across PC and consoles, including stuttering, degraded performance, and frequent crashes.

The situation has drawn increased attention following the game’s launch on Nintendo Switch 2, which reportedly features optimizations that Bethesda is now working to port to other platforms. The company stated via Twitter that it is “looking into bringing [Switch 2 optimisations] to other platforms” including PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

The lack of updates has been particularly notable on PC, where the game has been without a patch since July 2025 despite the persistent issues. According to technical analysis, performance problems compound the longer players engage with the game, eventually leading to crashes when loading saves—an issue first highlighted by Digital Foundry in May 2025.

This acknowledgment from Bethesda marks a notable shift in communication regarding the remaster’s troubled launch. While the company has not provided a timeline for when fixes will arrive, the confirmation that optimizations from the Switch 2 version are being adapted for other platforms suggests active work is underway to address the core technical problems that have plagued the release.
