Remedy Entertainment touts pricing Control Resonant ‘attractively for an AAA title’
Remedy Entertainment is positioning Control Resonant as a “must-have day one purchase” ahead of its September 24, 2026 launch, betting the sequel will stand out in a competitive autumn season. The developer is marketing the $60 price point as “attractive” for an AAA title and plans a simultaneous release across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game has accumulated 1.5 million wishlists across all platforms.
Control Resonant faces formidable competition at launch, releasing alongside Silent Hill: Townfall and just one day before EA Sports FC 27, with Marvel’s Wolverine launching shortly before. Despite the crowded window, CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon expressed confidence that the game’s “distinctiveness and quality” will help it succeed, noting that the release window has become “slightly less crowded” since the original announcement.
Remedy’s aggressive positioning reflects financial pressure. In the first half of 2026, the studio reported revenue of €23.3 million, down 23.1% year-over-year, and an operating loss of €2.9 million. Q2 2026 was particularly challenging, with revenue declining 40% to €10.2 million and a €3.9 million operating loss. The company attributes these declines to increased marketing expenditure for Control Resonant. However, Remedy has demonstrated its games can eventually succeed—Alan Wake 2, released in October 2023, has now surpassed 3 million copies sold, providing evidence that initial sales struggles don’t necessarily predict long-term performance.
