GTA 6 Owner Take-Two Is Not Interested In Selling To Netflix Or Anyone Right Now
Take-Two Interactive, owner of Rockstar Games and the Grand Theft Auto franchise, has publicly stated it is not interested in being acquired by Netflix or any other company. CEO Strauss Zelnick made the declaration during a recent CNBC appearance, directly addressing speculation that Take-Two’s partnership with Netflix for the upcoming GTA 6 trailer could be a precursor to a broader acquisition.
Zelnick emphasized that the Netflix collaboration represents a continuation of existing business relationships rather than a strategic shift toward a potential sale. Take-Two has previously established multiple deals with Netflix Games, the streaming service’s gaming division, for distributing titles to subscribers. While some Grand Theft Auto titles have been removed from Netflix’s game library, Red Dead Redemption remains available to Netflix subscribers, demonstrating the ongoing nature of their partnership.
The CEO highlighted that Netflix’s primary corporate objective is subscriber growth and revenue generation through quality entertainment content—an alignment that benefits both companies without requiring deeper structural integration. Zelnick’s comments underscore Take-Two’s confidence in operating as an independent publisher, suggesting the company sees greater value in maintaining its autonomy than in potential acquisition offers.
