Nintendo Officially Confirms Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake

Nintendo has officially confirmed a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Switch 2, scheduled to launch in 2026 as part of the Zelda franchise’s 40th anniversary celebration.

The remake represents a complete visual overhaul compared to the original 1998 Nintendo 64 classic. Nintendo describes the new version as being “reborn” on Switch 2, with a visual style that notably departs from recent Zelda entries Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.

A brief reveal trailer was shared featuring narration from the Great Deku Tree, recreating elements of the original game’s iconic opening sequence. The footage showed Link, the protagonist, in scenes from the classic adventure.

The announcement concludes years of speculation regarding an Ocarina of Time remake. The original game remains widely regarded as one of the most influential and critically acclaimed titles in gaming history, making it a natural candidate for modernization as Nintendo continues revitalizing its classic library for contemporary hardware.
