Hungry Studio’s hit puzzler Block Blast is heading to Apple Arcade

Block Blast, the most downloaded mobile game of 2025, is launching on Apple Arcade next month as Block Blast+. Developed by Hungry Studio, the Tetris-like grid-clearing puzzler racked up an estimated 368 million downloads last year, outpacing competitors like Roblox’s 295 million. With lifetime installs estimated between 725 and 868 million, the game has maintained its position at the top of monthly download charts into 2026.

The Apple Arcade version launches on September 3, 2026, offering an ad-free experience without in-app purchases for the $6.99-a-month subscription fee. This marks a significant shift for the game’s monetization model, as the original free version relies on ads and has generated negligible in-app purchase revenue. Despite minimal direct monetization, Block Blast achieved massive scale particularly across key markets including Indonesia, the United States, Vietnam, Brazil, and India.

The move to Apple Arcade represents a strategic opportunity for Hungry Studio to reach subscribers of the platform while eliminating ads and generating predictable revenue through the subscription model. The game’s success demonstrates the continued appeal of puzzle games in the mobile market and Apple’s interest in adding popular free-to-play titles to its gaming service. Also joining Apple Arcade on September 3 is Art of Fauna: Cozy Puzzles+, developed by Klemens Strasser.
