Crimson Desert has done so well it’ll be getting a DLC this year, with more details coming sooner than I expected given Pearl Abyss’ breakneck pace

Crimson Desert, Pearl Abyss’ action role-playing game, has proven commercially successful and will receive a major DLC expansion before the end of 2026. According to the developer’s Q2 2026 financial report, the game sold approximately 2.11 million copies during the quarter, with digital sales accounting for 1.72 million copies (82% of total sales).

The DLC is currently scheduled for release this year as Pearl Abyss continues to refine the content direction and overall quality. While specific details about the expansion’s content remain limited, the developer has indicated it represents “significant potential for expansion” for the title.

Crimson Desert has garnered positive reception from players and critics alike, despite being described as a complex, systems-heavy experience. The game’s combination of chaotic design and engaging mechanics has resonated with its audience, contributing to its strong sales performance and justifying the publisher’s investment in post-launch content.

The commercial success and planned DLC support signal Pearl Abyss’ confidence in Crimson Desert’s longevity as a live-service title, with potential multiplayer modes also under consideration for future updates.
