DC’s TV Division Reportedly Scrapped Two Key TV Projects, Rejected Pitches for Catwoman and Poison Ivy Shows

DC Studios has canceled two television projects that were announced as part of its major slate restructuring in 2023, according to a report from The Ankler. The two canceled shows are Paradise Lost, a series centered on Amazonian warriors on Themyscira that would have connected to Wonder Woman’s future in the DC Universe, and Waller, a Suicide Squad spin-off that was set to reunite star Viola Davis with the franchise.

Both projects were part of the original lineup announced by DC Studios leadership James Gunn and Peter Safran when the studio unveiled its plans for the restructured DC Universe. The cancellations represent a notable narrowing of the studio’s television ambitions as it refocuses its priorities.

The studio has also reportedly rejected multiple pitches for other proposed shows, including projects centered on characters like Catwoman and Poison Ivy. These rejections suggest DC Studios is being highly selective about which projects move forward in its current slate.

While the two projects are now dead, DC Studios continues to move forward with other television productions. The series Lanterns is scheduled to premiere imminently, and other announced projects like Superman and Supergirl remain in development. There has also been some confusion around the status of a Booster Gold show, with mixed reports about whether that project has been formally canceled.

The cancellations underscore the challenges of managing a large slate of interconnected entertainment properties and suggest the studio is making significant strategic adjustments to its long-term plans.
