Warner Bros. has officially confirmed that Hogwarts Legacy 2 is in active development, according to an announcement made in the company’s shareholder letter. The sequel marks the company’s commitment to expanding its gaming franchise based on the Harry Potter universe.
The original Hogwarts Legacy, released in 2023, was a massive commercial success. It became the biggest new release of 2022, selling over 22 million copies in its first year in the United States alone and outperforming that year’s Call of Duty entry. To date, the game has sold over 40 million copies across all platforms, establishing it as a billion-dollar franchise.
While Warner Bros. confirmed the sequel’s development, no details have been announced regarding its title, release date, gameplay features, or platform availability. However, the company emphasized that Hogwarts Legacy 2 and other upcoming games in its pipeline will “meaningfully contribute” to the company’s future revenue growth.
