Marvel Tōkon’s first big PC patch has mostly fixed performance woes, though it hasn’t done much for its Steam reviews

Marvel Tōkon, ArcSystem Works’ 4v4 tag fighter, faced a rocky PC launch marked by severe performance issues and mandatory PlayStation Network (PSN) logins. The game suffered significant frame drops—up to eight frames of rollback during online matches—leading to poor Steam reception that deteriorated from “Mixed” to “Mostly Negative” reviews within days of release.

A major patch released earlier this week has substantially addressed the performance problems. The optimization update has delivered noticeably smoother gameplay and more stable online experiences for players, representing a significant improvement from the launch state.

Despite the technical improvements, the mandatory PSN login requirement remains in place and continues to be a source of player friction. The patch’s performance gains have not yet reversed the game’s negative Steam reviews, suggesting that the combination of the login requirement and poor initial reception has created a challenging perception problem for the title’s recovery.
