Phantom Blade Zero State Of Play Set For Next Week, And Yes, That’s Donnie Yen In The New Trailer
Sony has announced a State of Play broadcast dedicated to Phantom Blade Zero, scheduled for August 17 at 7 PM PT / 10 PM ET. The showcase will feature nearly 20 minutes of gameplay, offering a deeper look at the action game ahead of its October 29 release on PlayStation 5.
To coincide with the announcement, developer S-Game released an 11-minute pre-order trailer featuring combat sequences, cinematic cutscenes, and boss battles. Pre-orders for the $59.99 base edition and $69.99 Digital Deluxe Edition are now live on the PlayStation Store.
A notable highlight of the trailer is the involvement of martial arts legend Donnie Yen, who has played multiple roles in the game’s development. Yen provided motion capture and likeness for Mó Yuan, the father of the protagonist, and has served as a creative consultant since 2023. According to S-Game, his martial arts expertise significantly influenced the game’s combat design. Yen himself shared the trailer across his social media channels.
The game’s fast-paced action sequences and character-driven narrative appear to be central to the presentation, with the State of Play promising a comprehensive gameplay deep dive for interested players.
