Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire & Emerald Ports Planned For This Year, It’s Claimed
Following the successful ports of Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green to Nintendo Switch earlier this year, Nintendo is reportedly planning to bring more classic Pokémon games to modern hardware. According to leaker Shpeshal Nick—an online personality known for accurate Nintendo predictions—Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald ports are next in line for release.
The Game Boy Advance titles, originally released nearly 25 years ago, are expected to launch in September or October 2026, though Nintendo has not officially confirmed the news. The leak provides limited specifics beyond the timing, but circumstantial evidence supports the claim. The Pokémon Trading Card Game and Pokémon TCG Pocket are both receiving a Rayquaza-themed set called Delta Reigns in November, which aligns with a potential launch window for the games that originally introduced double battles and the Pokémon Hoenn region.
The successful reception of Fire Red and Leaf Green has demonstrated continued consumer interest in classic Pokémon titles on Nintendo’s current hardware, establishing a pattern of retro game rereleases. If the leak proves accurate, the Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald ports would represent Nintendo’s strategy of bringing beloved legacy games to new platforms while capitalizing on nostalgic players and reaching audiences who may have missed the originals.
