Halo Campaign Evolved Not Having PvP Was ‘Poor Planning’, Says Franchise Creator

Halo Campaign Evolved, a remake of the original 1987 game, has received mixed reviews since its release over two weeks ago. Players have praised the remake’s visual overhaul and additional features, but expressed significant disappointment over the absence of split-screen multiplayer PvP functionality that was present in the original game.

Marcus Lehto, the co-creator and original art director of the Halo franchise, has also weighed in on the remake, expressing both appreciation and criticism on social media. While enjoying his playthrough, Lehto attributed the missing PvP multiplayer to “lack of oversight and poor planning” during development. He further criticized the game’s architecture, describing it as “out of scale, no mystery, damn ugly,” suggesting the design issues extend beyond the missing multiplayer feature.

The mixed feedback from a founding member of the franchise highlights a disconnect between player expectations based on the original game and what was delivered in this remake, raising questions about the development process and the creative decisions made during the project.
