High On Life Is Coming To VR, And Yes, You Can Stroke Your Weird Guns
High on Life, the irreverent first-person shooter featuring talking alien guns developed by Squanch Games, is coming to virtual reality. The VR port was announced during the VR Games Showcase, with a planned release in 2027 across Meta Quest, PlayStation VR2, and SteamVR headsets. Rather than a direct conversion, Flat2VR Studios is essentially rebuilding the game to take full advantage of VR technology and immersive capabilities.
A key focus of the adaptation is introducing new manual VR interactions unavailable in the original release. The studio showcased the ability to physically interact with the game’s distinctive talking guns—stroking them, feeding them, and otherwise engaging with these opinionated virtual weapons. These tactile interactions represent a significant departure from the original game, leveraging VR’s unique control systems to create a more immersive experience with the game’s personality-driven arsenal. The rebuild aims to deliver a fresh take on the already unconventional shooter, with the talking guns responding to these new forms of player interaction.
