Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Beta Will Do Something No Previous CoD Beta Has
Activision has announced that the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 beta will mark a historic first for the franchise by including single-player campaign content alongside multiplayer and Warzone modes.
The beta will feature a playable campaign mission called “Entrenched,” following a squad of South Korean marines during North Korea’s invasion of South Korea—the first time a Call of Duty beta has offered campaign content. The new Warzone mode “Resurgence Zodiac” and various multiplayer modes and maps will also be available.
The beta is scheduled in two phases. Early access runs from August 21–25, 2026, exclusively for players who preorder Modern Warfare 4. The full open beta follows August 28–September 1, available to all players. Activision will showcase additional content during the Call of Duty: Next event on August 21.
The beta will be available across multiple platforms, though the early access period excludes Nintendo Switch 2, as preorders for that version don’t begin until August 28. This represents a significant departure from the franchise’s traditional beta testing approach, which has exclusively focused on multiplayer content in previous installments.
