Dave Filoni Confirms Disney Isn’t Making Scrapped Star Wars Movie The Hunt for Ben Solo ‘Right Now’ | D23 2026

Lucasfilm president Dave Filoni confirmed at D23 2026 that Disney is not currently developing “The Hunt for Ben Solo,” a scrapped Star Wars film originally conceived by filmmaker Steven Soderbergh. When pressed by Variety following Disney’s Entertainment Showcase, Filoni acknowledged he had anticipated the question, humorously noting that “someone was going to ask me that in this line.”

The project would have centered on bringing back actor Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren character and has been the subject of sustained fan interest since its cancellation. Supporters have actively campaigned for Disney and Lucasfilm to revive the production.

While Filoni’s statement confirms the project remains shelved, the use of “right now” in his phrasing leaves room for future development. No concrete plans are currently in motion, though the possibility of revival in a future timeframe is not entirely ruled out.
