Kingdom Hearts 4 finally has a release window, if not quite a firm release date
Kingdom Hearts 4 has finally received a concrete release window of late 2027, as announced at Disney’s D23 2026 showcase. The game will launch across Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms. This marks a significantly firmer commitment than previous updates from director Tetsuya Nomura, who has previously offered only reassurances that development remains “on track” without specific timelines.
Alongside the release window announcement, Disney and Square Enix revealed the first confirmed new world for Kingdom Hearts 4: a location inspired by Pixar’s Coco. The trailer showcases Sora exploring the Land of the Dead alongside characters Miguel and Héctor, complete with Día de los Muertos-themed styling including custom skull face paint. Sora also acquires a new Coco-themed Keyblade during his adventure in this world, which will feature the series’ signature Heartless enemies.
The D23 showcase also confirmed additional Kingdom Hearts projects in development, including an animated Kingdom Hearts series. The late 2027 release window aligns with the franchise’s 25th anniversary in the West.
