Indiana Jones’ next Disney attraction will feature a robot Harrison Ford

Disney Imagineers unveiled “Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent,” a new attraction coming to Animal Kingdom, featuring a sophisticated animatronic modeled directly after actor Harrison Ford. This marks the first time the actor has allowed his likeness to be used for an Indiana Jones attraction in Disney parks, making it a notable milestone for the franchise.

The announcement was made at D23 this past weekend, with Ford’s involvement confirmed through a recorded video message. The video was showcased during the Horizons: A Carousel of Progress panel on August 14, demonstrating Ford’s direct participation in the project. Disney Imagineers emphasized the significance of securing both Ford’s participation and his likeness for the attraction.

The achievement represents a notable advancement in animatronic technology, enabling Disney to create increasingly realistic character representations for its immersive theme park experiences. The attraction’s theming centers around the “Myth of the Jade Serpent,” suggesting adventure-focused storytelling consistent with the Indiana Jones franchise’s core exploration and artifact-hunting themes. While specific details about the ride mechanics remain limited based on the D23 presentation, the emphasis on Ford’s likeness indicates a central role for the animatronic in the guest experience.
