Kingdom Hearts 4 Trailer Confirms Playable Mickey Mouse
Kingdom Hearts 4 received major announcements at Disney’s D23 fan event, including its first concrete release window: late 2027—approximately four years after the game’s initial announcement. The event unveiled an extended trailer featuring substantial new gameplay footage, confirming Mickey Mouse as a playable character alongside Donald Duck and Goofy. The trailer also revealed that the game will feature a world based on Pixar’s Coco (2017), showcasing Sora engaged in combat during a concert sequence and navigating sky rail sections, with the narrative focusing on Mickey, Goofy, and Hades reuniting with Sora after his disappearance at the end of Kingdom Hearts 3.
Beyond the game itself, Square Enix announced an expanded multimedia approach to the franchise. A Kingdom Hearts anime series is in development and will premiere on Disney+ and the Disney Channel at an unspecified future date, signaling the company’s broader investment in the Kingdom Hearts brand across entertainment platforms.
