Disney Is Bringing Fortnite Into Its Real-World Star Wars Rides
Disney and Epic Games have deepened their partnership through an exclusive Fortnite and Star Wars collaboration, building on Disney’s $1.5 billion investment in Epic Games. The integration brings the popular battle royale game into Disney’s physical attractions, starting with the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run experience at Disneyland Park in Anaheim and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando.
The collaboration works as a two-way experience. Players who visit Smugglers Run—an interactive motion simulator where groups work together aboard the Millennium Falcon to complete cargo missions for the character Hondo—will unlock exclusive in-game content for Fortnite. These physical interactions translate into digital rewards, bridging the gap between theme park attractions and online gaming.
The most notable in-game reward is the “Forsworn Trooper” Star Wars skin, exclusively available to visitors of either Smugglers Run location. Players can unlock the skin by linking their Epic account to their Disney Experiences account, creating seamless integration between Disney’s ecosystem and Fortnite.
Accompanying this partnership, Fortnite is launching a new limited-time island called “Smugglers Gambit,” set around Mersa Veta Station, further expanding the Star Wars content available in the game. This collaboration exemplifies Disney’s strategy to monetize its intellectual property through gaming partnerships while creating incentives for theme park attendance. The partnership highlights the growing convergence between physical entertainment and digital gaming experiences.
