IT: Welcome to Derry Season 2 Renewed, Will Cover Bradley Gang Massacre
HBO has renewed “It: Welcome to Derry” for a second season, following the critical and commercial success of its debut. The first season became one of HBO Max’s four biggest series debuts globally since premiering last year.
Season 2 will advance the show’s exploration of Derry’s dark history by jumping backward in time to 1935 during the Great Depression—approximately 30 years before Season 1’s Cold War-era setting. The new season will center on the Bradley Gang massacre, depicting a group of bank robbers inspired by real-world outlaws like John Dillinger and the Bonnie and Clyde gang. According to the official logline, the criminals stop in Derry to purchase ammunition but encounter unimaginable supernatural horror.
Brad Caleb Kane, who co-showran Season 1 with Jason Fuchs, will serve as sole showrunner for Season 2. Series creators Andy and Barbara Muschietti have previously indicated plans to continue mining Derry’s past across multiple seasons.
The renewal continues HBO’s adaptation strategy for Stephen King’s works and arrives during a strong period for horror content in 2026.
